Out rapper Lil Nas X took to Instagram on the evening of April 14 to document a stay in the hospital.
"Soooo lost control of the right side of my face ðŸ˜" he posted.
"This is me doing a full smile, by the way" the "Industry Baby" singer said in a video, his words clear and distinct despite what seemed to be paralysis affecting his facial muscles. While one half of his mouth turned up in a smile and one eye crinkled, the other half of his face did not move. "It's just like, what the fuck?"
"Bro, I couldn't even laugh right," the "Montero" singer added. "Bro, what the fuck! Oh, my god..." Lil Nas stared into the camera pensively, giggled nervously, then added: "So... yeah."
"Lil Nas continued making jokes at his expense on his Instagram Story, posting a close-up video of his face while laughing and saying ... 'We normal over here. We get crazy over here,'" TMZ reported.
The rapper also reassured fans in his Instagram Story posts that he was "going to look funny for a lil bit but thats it" -Â a post that suggested whatever's happening with him is temporary. In the meantime, he insisted, "Stop being sad for me! Shake ur ass for me instead!"
"Celebrities like Taraji P. Henson, Wanda Sykes, and Niecy Nash are showing love for Lil Nas, dropping comments on his video and wishing him a speedy recovery," TMZ added.
"at least you can still find a way to laugh about it," singer DDiva posted. "a day without laughter is a day wasted! get well soon!"
"Though Nas has not said exactly what his condition is yet, fans online have speculated that it could be Bell's Palsy, which causes weakness or paralysis on one side of the face due to a facial nerve issue," Variety noted.
"According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, the cause of Bell's Palsy is unknown but it can be triggered by high blood pressure, an infection, diabetes or toxins in one's system."
Variety went on to note that "Nas has been teasing a new era lately, having released a string of singles leading up to his forthcoming second studio album 'Dreamboy.'"
