After Years of Mocking AIDS Deaths, Conservative Talk Show Host Dies of Covid

A conservative radio host and pastor in Colorado has become the�latest vocal opponent of COVID-19 precautions�to die of the virus. Bob Enyart, pastor of the Denver Bible Church, died Monday, according to a Facebook post by his co-host, Fred Williams, reports the Daily Beast. He was 62.

Enyard hosted the�Real Science Radio Show website, which�railed against what it described as the "imagined" burden of COVID-19 cases on hospitals, offered advice on treating the virus from the Bible, and accused "fake news" outlets of exaggerating the severity of the virus.

According to the DB, Enyard opted against getting the vaccine, citing the dismissed claim that COVID-19 vaccines rely on "cells of aborted babies." Also, the Denver Post reports he "successfully sued the state�over mask mandates and capacity limits in churches, a rare legal victory against broad public health mandates instituted during the pandemic."

Enyard poised himself as a gonzo political provocateur, often pulling stunts to make his points. "He once traveled to New Zealand for the sole purpose of being arrested with a "Clinton is a Rapist" banner, according to a 1999�Westword profile," the DP adds.

In their story about his passing this week, Westword cited what was for the LGBTQ population his most offensive behavior: In the 1990s on his weekly talk show, Enyart – an unrepentant homophobe – would "gleefully reading�obituaries of AIDS sufferers while cranking 'Another One Bites the Dust' by Queen, whose lead singer, Freddie Mercury, succumbed to the malady. 'Listen to the words of the song and you'll understand why I did it,' he told us at the time, as if his motives were somehow puzzling."
