Watch: 'Dear Evan Hansen' Star Ben Platt Goes 'Wicked' on TikTok

COVID might have shut down the Great White Way, but Ben Platt, the Tony-winning star of "Dear Evan Hansen," proved that his stage skills are staying sharp with a TikTok rendition of "No Good Deed" from "Wicked."

Platt posted the video with the words, "When Broadway's been closed for a year and you start to go crazy," Broadway World reports.

The 2003 Steven Schwartz musical "Wicked" revisits the Land of Oz years before Dorothy's arrival and tells the story of longtime rivals Elphaba and Galinda. The song "No Good Deed" is Elphaba's declaration to devote herself to evil; she goes on to become the Wicked Witch of the West, while Galinda pursues her own magical career as Glinda the Good Witch. Coincidentally, "Wicked," like "Dear Evan Hansen," is headed for a big-screen adaptation.

As other celebrities have done when posting entertaining tidbits to social media during the COVID pandemic, Platt seems to have recorded the clip in a residential setting, springing into view from beneath a granite countertop to belt out the song before then dropping out of view once more.

Broadway World recalled that in addition to having signed on to the feature film version of "Dear Evan Hansen," where he will reprise the title role, Platt has also appeared "in the Tony Award-winning original Broadway production of 'The Book of Mormon' and the blockbuster films 'Pitch Perfect' and 'Pitch Perfect 2,' " while in the small screen he has starred in two seasons of the Ryan Murphy comedy "The Politician" on Netflix.
