Are McDonald's Minion Toys Dropping the F-Bomb?

EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.

It's always hard to tell what these little yellow guys are saying anyway.

A number of concerned parents across the country are complaining that some of the Minion toys found in McDonald's Happy Meals are saying "what the fuck," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Think of the children!

Local news stations in Florida and Ohio both reported on the same issue, with parents claiming they can hear the beloved cartoon characters swearing.

"It turned out to be a toy that decided to talk profanity," Florida grandparent Bradley Merten told local Orlando ABC affiliate WFTV. "I can't believe it's coming out of a toy."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, there are three different talking Minion toys customers can get in their McDonald's Happy Meals, which is promoting the film "Minion," which hits theaters Friday. According to reports, the swearing toy is the caveman Minion, which is wearing a brown loincloth.

Merten said he was worried after he noticed his granddaughter started saying "what the fuck," warning other parents to "check their toys before they hand them over."

In Ohio, fathers Taylor King and Robert Frazier also apparently heard the swearing Minion toys.

"I heard what it said and I'm like, 'Whoa, hang on here,'" King told Columbus, Ohio Fox affiliate WTTE. "It clearly says what it says."

Frazier added, "As soon as we heard it, her mom took it away. I listened to it and that's when we found out that's what it was saying,

In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, a McDonald's rep said they toys aren't swearing but are speaking "Minionese."

"Minions speak 'Minionese' which is a random combination of many languages and nonsense words and sounds," they told the website. "We're aware of a very small number of customers who have been in touch regarding this toy, and we apologize for any confusion or offense to those who may have interpreted the sounds for anything other than gibberish. The allegation that this toy is saying any offensive phrase is not true. Any perceived similarities to actual English words are purely coincidental."

The rep added that the creature is saying "para la bukay," "hahaha," and "eh eh."
